18TH CENTURY ITALIAN SOFA
A late 18th century Italian sofa in Louis 1770-1780 style with Roman provenance, upholstered in a Rose Tarlow silk. This style developed right after the Baroque and emerged from the need of going back to the elegance and refinery inspired by the Greek and Roman times. You can see this clearly in the elegant shape of the sofa and especially the legs, which recall classical columns of ancient temples and buildings. The round shape of the front is very peculiar and it gives it a very special character.
